Job Title: M&E Officer (Research and Assessments)

Contract Type/Grade: CST Level I

Duty Station: Mogadishu, Somalia

Contract Duration: 11 months, renewable

Closing Date: 15th, June, 2024


What will you do?

  • Lead on the identification of evidence needs in consultation with key internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development and updating of the CO learning agenda and its implementation plan by working with the programme team, logistics team, AOs, and FOs to identify key learning questions and a practical plan to answer each of the learning questions.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the CO learning agenda by coordinating the execution of the learning agenda implementation plan. 
  • Collaborate with WFP Somalia Communications Team to put in place a communication and advocacy plan that supplements the WFP Somalia learning agenda.
  • Contribute to the promotion of programmatic learning events through workshops, reflection sessions, meetings, learning sessions and other information dissemination fora to ensure understanding and use of findings for programme adaptation and learning.
  • Work with other PMLE staff and with programme staff to coordinate WFP’s Somalia assessments, research, evaluations, reviews etc.
  • Coordinate the dissemination of research and assessments findings and recommendations to a series of audiences including senior management, internal programme colleagues, field monitors, risk management colleagues to support the country office decision-making and related actions on performance planning, programme activities, risk analysis, emergency preparedness, security risk management and risk mitigation activities.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative, user-friendly, and useful knowledge products for internal and
  • external stakeholders.
  • Work closely with all PMLE Unit’s teams to ensure sound planning and execution of research and assessment activities.

Do you meet the minimum requirements?

Education:

  • A University degree in Economics, Statistics, Sociology, or another relevant field. A master’s degree will be an added advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing research and evidence generation activities for a large
  • organization in development or humanitarian sector,
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in both quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
  • Experience in managing organization’s/programme’s evidence generation initiatives – full cycle from
  • development, to implementation, to evidence use.
  • Strong background in qualitative and quantitative research.

Languages:

  • English proficiency. Able to comprehend and communicate complex ideas and subjects comfortably, clearly, and timely.
