We are looking for a talented, creative and professional Digital Content Officer to join our small team to play a vital role in improving and maintaining our websites and digital content. The successful candidate will be a strong team player with experience in sourcing, creating and delivering content and assets and experienced in working within the charity sector. You have a thorough knowledge of website transformation; up-to-date knowledge and experience of analytics; experience of using a range of web technologies and CMSs, managing external suppliers and partners and delivering training. You also possess excellent social media skills; solid planning and digital production skills across multiple channels and the ability to write creatively while delivering a key message. The ability to proofread and edit is essential as well as excellent demonstrable numerical and analytical skills.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience of digital project management and a broad range of digital skills and expertise. You will be experienced in website building and content management systems and managing relationships with local charities and agencies. We are also looking for someone who would be willing to train and support our internal staff to develop their own digital skills.
The Digital Content Officer will play a vital role in improving and maintaining our website and digital content in line with fundraising, campaigning and service-delivery objectives, and growing internal knowledge and capabilities to support this. Effective time management skills and an ability to prioritise tasks and work to tight deadlines is essential.
You will take day-to-day responsibility for managing our website and digital content. You’ll have experience in sourcing, creating and delivering digital content and assets, be a strong team player and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. Analytics are key in order to test, learn and optimise and you will have excellent up-to-date knowledge and experience of analytics and demonstrable skills in reporting on supporter behaviour and actions.
You will be at the heart of our digital campaign and fundraising work, managing projects and planning strategy. You will be responsible for reviewing, updating, creating and maintaining content and information on all our media platforms. You will also support and work alongside the Chief Executive to identify opportunities to reach new audiences. You will produce an annual digital resilience strategy and create and maintain a new website and Instagram account for the organisation that is in line with brand management.
You have at least 2 years’ experience in digital campaigning or fundraising and are well organised with good attention to detail. You have worked in a role transforming content and websites for companies, charities or organisations. Now you want to lead a digital transformation project, changing our basic website to a more interactive and high impact standard as well as across all of our social media content.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Website and Social Media Management
1.1 Day to day responsibility for maintaining the website and social media accounts and overseeing its development
1.2 Create and amend web and social media pages, continuously review and improve navigation in line with learning and campaign objectives
1.3 Act as main organisational point of contact for website requests, queries and issues
1.4 Develop and deliver training to staff across the organisation so that they can create and manage their own web content
1.5 Support and maintain web integrations
1.6 Act as the primary contact with developers, working with them to solve bugs, maintain the website and implement improvements.
2. Content and Brand
2.1 Develop and deliver website content and SEO strategy to support campaigning and fundraising objectives
2.2 Create and maintain up-to-date style guides for website, and manage process for regular content review
2.3 Create social media content including video, photos and graphics, adhering to brand guidelines
2.4 Contribute to content ideation, production and analysis, ensuring that all activity is aligned to the wider content strategy
2.5 Act as a brand guardian, ensuring consistency of visual style and messaging across the website in developing content
3.1 Produce an annual Digital Resilience Strategy
3.2 Set up goals linked to user journeys to monitor site performance and people’s behaviour on it
3.3 Conduct monitoring, analysis, testing and optimisation of website using tools such as Google Analytics and Hotjar
3.4 Make recommendations for enhancing data reporting and analysis
4.1 Ensure that the website complies with current legislation and best practice
5. General Responsibilities
5.1 Contribute to building a culture of business growth and ambition, professionalism and innovation within the team
5.2 Undertake any other duties of comparable nature as may be required from time to time
In order to deliver services effectively, a degree of flexibility is needed, and the post-holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above. Such duties will, however, fall within the scope of the job, at the appropriate grade. The job description will be subject to periodic review with the post-holder to ensure it accurately reflects the duties of the job.
With the support of the Chief Executive, post-holder will need to effectively manage their own workload and medium- and long-term plans and objectives.

Degree/Diploma level qualification in a marketing or media related discipline
1. Experience in a digital fundraising or digital marketing role, preferably for a charity
2. Experience in day to day management of a website including non-technical management of back end
3. Experience of sourcing, creating and optimising digital content and assets
4. Experience in using data and analytics tools to optimise website content pages and user funnels
5. Experience providing reports on website performance and digital campaigns, including data analysis and recommendations for improvement
6. Experience in using learning and validated insight to inform decision making
7. Experience in liaising with external agencies and suppliers
1. Ability to use in-house creative tools such as Adobe Creative suite
2. Knowledge of and interest in issues affecting the Somali community/BAME communities
